Overview

GoTradesman ratings are designed to give homeowners a clear, honest picture of a tradesperson’s performance.

Every rating is scored between and 5, with being excellent.

To keep things fair and consistent, each rating is calculated using an unweighted average across four key areas.

How Ratings Are Calculated

Each review includes a score for the following four categories:

1. Quality

How good was the workmanship?

This covers the standard of the finished job, attention to detail, and overall quality.

2. Price

Was the price fair and reasonable?

This reflects whether the customer felt the cost matched the work completed.

3. Time

How well did the tradesperson manage time?

This includes punctuality, reliability, and how long the job took to complete.

4. Communication

How well did the tradesperson communicate?

This covers clarity, responsiveness, and how easy they were to deal with.

Final Rating (1–5 Stars)

Once the customer scores all four areas, GoTradesman calculates the average of those scores.

This becomes the tradesperson’s overall star rating for that review.

Example:
If a review contains the following scores:
  • Quality: 5
  • Price: 4
  • Time: 4
  • Communication: 5

The final rating is the average:
(5+4+4+5)÷4=4.5

Why This System Matters

Our rating system is designed to be:

  • Fair — every category is weighted equally
  • Transparent — customers can see exactly what each score means
  • Balanced — no single category can unfairly skew the overall rating

This helps homeowners make confident hiring decisions and gives tradespeople clear feedback on what they’re doing well — and where they can improve.
